Shaun is one of the most experienced pre-construction and procurement managers in the industry, with a broad experience of Public Sector and Private Procurement, PFI and PPP Initiatives, Frameworks and Landmark Projects.
Shaun founded Wordsworth Construction Services in 2014 with the aspiration of providing Main Contractors with anything they needed during pre-construction stage. However, Shaun quickly realised that the services offered could provide huge advantages to Clients too.
Prior to establishing Wordsworth Construction Services, Shaun was North Divisional Director for GB Group, running three offices with a turnover of £110m, having been promoted from his role as Pre-Construction Director.
Shaun started his career with Wates Construction and was the first sponsored student in the northern region. His bias was initially towards site management and eventually project management, prior to specialising in pre-construction in 2001.
With acquired knowledge and experience of managing construction sites, Wordsworth Construction Services has an advantage over most other pre-construction teams, with first hand experience of implementing theory into practice.
Being highly driven, Shaun has the unique ability to balance the drive of looming deadlines and the emotional intelligence needed to ensure that the pressure cooker of bidding doesn't cause undue stress and split teams.
Without a doubt the decision to leave what was a successful contracting business and set up as a consultant with a new business, was a tough one. However, having the flexibility to steer and expand Wordsworth Construction Services, adding to the team and building a varied and loyal clientelle has been both challenging but also very rewarding.

From a project point of view, I accept that we’re all in the business of making money and that constructing buildings gives us the opportunity to do this. However, there is no better project to work on than the one where the client needs the building as a building not a quick sell asset, something where, as a team, we can stand back and say ‘we did that’!
